Filton airport closed on 21st December 2012 after 102 years of aviation activity during which time the Bristol Aeroplane Company and its successors, the British Aircraft Corporation and British Aerospace, were responsible for some of the greatest advances in British aeronautical engineering. At the time of the closure the author was the airport’s Senior Air Traffic Controller and this book, as well as outlining the airport’s illustrious history, is also a personal anthology of its last decade of operation.
