Organisations we support

The Air League

Founded in 1909, the Air League is the UK’s leading aviation, aerospace, and space charity that changes lives. It breaks down the barriers into these industries through its scholarships and outreach programmes. Each year AFE supplies training materials, free of charge, to the winners of Air League flying scholarships and bursaries.

Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association

AOPA’s stated mission is to represent the interests of its members by “Securing out freedom to fly”. The association acts as an influencer of policy and regulation that supports the continued operations, development and long term future of the General Aviation community. AFE have been corporate members of UK AOPA for over 25 years and have worked with AOPA on a number of initiatives to improve pilot training and flight safety.

The General Aviation Safety Council

GASCo’s aims are to collect, collate and disseminate flight safety information among users of UK registered general aviation aircraft. GASCo also exists to study all matters affecting, or which might affect, flight safety in UK general aviation and to make recommendations to interested parties, as necessary. AFE supports GASCo through giving prizes and other materials for their Saefty evening programme, and other practical support. As publishers of the UK VFR Flight Guide, AFE support the aims of GAAC and provide practical assistance, including historic information and research from our archives, to help safeguard the airfields of the UK.

The General Aviation Awareness Council

GAAC supports the interests of airfields, and members of the UK’s General Aviation, Business Aviation and Sport aviation associations. The GAAC is recognised at CAA and Government level for its expert knowledge in airfield planning and environmental issues.
